CDNetworks Expands Global Public Service Program and Donates Over 50 Servers to Beautiful Store
San Jose, CA – January 7, 2009 – CDNetworks (KOSDAQ: 073710) a top-three global, full-service content delivery network (CDN), today announced the expansion of the ‘Net Plus Program’ for social contributions, and donated over 50 servers to the Beautiful Store. This action exemplifies CDNetworks’ corporate culture and leadership of corporate giving and sharing.
The ‘Net Plus’ program refers to CDNetworks ‘Global Public Service.’ It is a global social contribution program reflecting the corporate philosophy of CDNetworks: i.e. making a more positive and progressive Internet world.
CDNetworks is engaged in a public program providing free support annually for the IT infrastructure of nonprofits and non-government organizations (NGO’s). The company decided to further expand the program to donate servers to the Beautiful Store on a regular basis. CDNetworks said donating more than 50 servers to the Beautiful Store with the New Year just around the corner was the first such move.
The servers donated to the Beautiful Store are the servers CDNetworks used to provide the CDN (Content Delivery Networks) service. They were replaced with new servers for an infrastructure upgrade. The Beautiful Store is planning to resell these servers, and use the proceeds from them to support the less fortunate in society, and part of it will be used to cover the operating expenses of the Beautiful Store website. http://www.beautifulstore.org/ENG_NEW/index.asp
“The economic slump continues due to the global economic recession, and the will to share whatever little we have is all the more necessary because of the economic hardship,” said Samuel Koh, CEO of CDNetworks. “CDNetworks will continue to be involved in such social contribution programs, and practice management of sharing, and fulfill its responsibility as a socially responsible corporation.”
“As there are various places in need of help, diversified social contribution activities are needed,” said Lee Hyeon-Seung, leader of the external affairs team of the Beautiful Store. “This donation of CDNetworks will go a long way toward forming a culture of practicing the spirit of sharing in a diverse way.”
Meanwhile, from October 2002 when the Beautiful Store Foundation opened its first store till 2008, a total of 5,000 volunteer workers participated, more than 90 charity stores selling recycles goods were opened, and 40 million items were recycled, and more than KRW7 billion was given to charities. The Beautiful Store is a representative public foundation on the cutting edge of the culture of sharing and circulation based on recycling and alternative trading.
